This place was a good match for a city escape in Torquay with solid value for money. The room was spotlessly clean, and the powerful shower was a great perk after a long day. Make sure to sample the well-cooked meals. They were plentiful and hit the spot.

It offers plentiful breakfasts at 915. The location is central, very close to the train station, the beach and the seafront.

Lovely bed and good-sized rooms.

Very clean and friendly hotel. Fairly close to all main attractions and ideal base for Torquay and surrounding area. Breakfast is basic - but very nice. Staff very helpful.
Although there is a lift to all floors, the hotel is very large and still a number of small flights of stairs and quite a distance to walk to some rooms. Beware if booking for disabled travellers. Hotel is old and decor tired - but clean.

The sea view was lovely, but the room was outdated and creaky.

Lots of goodies for breakfast. Marvellous and quiet location, at a short distance from Torquay Seafront. Found in the very very nice area very close to the sea and town centre, torquay to work, and the beach.

The hotel is in a nice location, just a 15 min walk from town. Free parking was a big plus and drinks were fairly priced. Breakfast was really nice and the room had everything we needed. It was def good value for money for us as a couple!
the room was quite small and i found the shower to be either too hot or too cold, annoying.

I liked the location, and service, cleanliness.
Very old fashioned, specialy the coridors, and the stairs covered in flowerful carpets.

We ended up here unexpectedly, and I'm really glad we did! The breakfast spread was decent, and the lounge area was perfect for unwinding with a drink. The WiFi was spotty in my room, but it didn't put a damper on my stay. 😊

It was the Cheapest around during the booking process. Its grand appearance captivates you from outside, and knowing there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools sounded appealing. It also has a large car park. Bonus.
There's nothing that can be done about it but the hotel appear to be an old people's home, which was a major disappointment for a group of young guys on a lads" weekend in the country; seems they've only made some areas available to guests in order to fund its actual purpose. We overheard several complaints from other guests about the hygeine standards at the hotel. The lady cleaner barges in before any responce after knocking in the mornings, and states that she will not clean around you while you sleep. Hardly replenished the tea , sugar etc.

Providing me with a take out fruit breakfast.
Breakfast served from 830- it meant I was late for my course and had to have a take out breakfast the following day to make sure I was on time.

The front of house staff were excellent, they seemed to be fighting a losing battle against poor organization in the kitchen, and the in house entertainment was so bad it was funny. Its a shame as a beautiful old building has been left to get so tired. The small indoor pool and its surroundings were dirty so we didn,t try it. The best thing about the cavendish is its close locaton to the centre of torquay, all in all its a coach party hotel and therefore in my opinon is fit for this purpose
